Join Online
Join Online is used to join a game on your local area network or over the internet. You may manually type in or paste a LAN or internet Game URL given to you by a friend for a private game. Or you may join a public game from the Public Games List if you profile is online-activated to join public games.

 


Join Game
Game URL The Game URL is used if you want to play other human opponents on other computers in your Local Area Network or over the internet. A LAN or Internet Game URL may be typed in here. You may also click the Paste button if you have already copied it to your clipboard. Click the Use Last button and then Join Game if you need to re-join a game you were disconnected from.

An example of a LAN can be two or more of your home computers all connected with a router. Another example may be an office LAN, depending on your company LAN setup and policies. In either case, each user is required to have their own licensed copy of DD Poker.

In most cases, you will automatically find LAN based game in the Games Running On Your LAN table. If your computer can not automatically find any games due to network issues, you may still be able to join. You will need to obtain the entire Game URL from the host.

If a friend has already sent you a Game URL via email, instant message or phone for their private internet game, you may copy the URL to the clipboard and paste it into the Game URL with the Paste button to the right of the Game URL entry.

Games Running
This list switches from Games Running On Your LAN to the DD Poker Public Games List when you click the Find Public Games button.

Games Running On Your Local Area Network (LAN) Your computer should automatically detect everyone running DD Poker on your Local Area Network. Displayed are the players name, computer name, local IP address, and the status of their game.
 
Game Status:
Blank DD Poker is simply running on another computer on your LAN.
Soon Soon is displayed if a host is opening a poker lobby.
Open Open is displayed if a game is open for you to join the lobby.
Playing

Indicates a game is underway and can no longer accept players.

Note: you may still join as an observer if the hosts is allowing observers to join.

Note: If you were a player in the game and got disconnected, you may rejoin the game by highlighting the game and clicking "Join" to reconnect, or click the Use Last button, then Join Game.

DD Poker Public Games List The DD Poker Public Games List displays all the public internet games that you can join. Click the Refresh button show the most current list of games available. Click the Previous or Next button to increment or decrement groups of public games displayed. In order to join public games, your Profile must be online-activated. See Profile in the Main Menu help.

The current profile in use is displayed. Click on the Profile button to change profiles and/or to online-activate your profile to list/join public games. If your profile is online-activated to join public games, Yes will be displayed.

Game Status:
Open Open is displayed if a game is open for you to join the lobby.
Invite Indicates if the host has an invitation only list to join their game.
Playing

Indicates a game is underway and can no longer accept players.

Note: you may still join as an observer if the hosts is allowing observers to join.

DD Poker Public Games List
Find Public Games Click Find Public Games to query the DD Poker Server for the list of games that other DD Poker players have posted on the DD Poker Public Games List. Your screen will switch from showing you LAN games available, and now show the DD Poker Public Games List. Click Cancel to return to the Games Running On Your Local Area Network.


Buttons
Join Game Click Join Game to join the online game you have chosen and enter the Poker Lobby shown below.
Observe Game Click Observe Game to join the online game as an observer. You will not play any poker hands as an observer.
Help Displays this Help screen.
Cancel Returns to the previous screen, the Online Tournaments menu.

Players
Players

These are the other players in the Poker Lobby. You may chat with them in the chat window until the host starts the game. Note: The host has control over the tournament settings, although you can view them by clicking the Info button described below. The maximum number of players the host has set can be seen next to the Players title, and an indication of the game filling with computer players can be seen at the bottom of the player list.

You may Mute any player by right clicking on thier name. You may also mark them to Ban them from any of your hosted games. This will not affect them this game as you are not the host of this game. (See banning and muting players under the online tab in Options for more information.)



Observers
Observers This displays the list of all the people that have joined the game as observers, but will not actually play the game. Observers will appear in the chat window in purple with a [obs] next to their name to indicate they are an observer. The host may set the maximum number of observers able to join. Players that have busted out during the tournament do not count against this number. Note: The right click options shown above for Players also apply to observers.


Host Connection Status


In online games, this displays your connnection status to the host computer. The Green LED indicates you are connected to the host. The Red LED indicates you are not connected to the host. A Yellow LED flashing every 5 seconds indicates you your game is actively trying to re-connect to the host.
Show Details If the status LED is Red, the Show Detail check box appears. If checked, a pop up window with an error message will appear.


Chat
You can chat with others that have already joined the tournament as players or observers as you are waiting for others to join before the tournament starts. Observers will appear in the chat window in purple with a [obs] next to their name to indicate they are an observer. Demo users will appear in the chat window with a [demo] next to their name to indicate they are a demo user.
 
Send Use the text area to type your message, then hit Enter or click the Send button to send your message to everyone. Your message will be displayed in the chat window.
Clear Click Clear to erase all the text in your chat window. This will not clear the text on anyone else's chat window.
Lobby Click Lobby to start the chat lobby where you can talk with other players currently running DD Poker.


Buttons
Info View the current tournament settings.
Options Allows you to alter you personal options while you are waiting for the tournament to start.
Help Displays this help screen
Leave Leave the poker lobby you are currently in and return to the Join Online menu.

Once the host starts the game, your screen with automatically change to the poker table. The game may initially be paused by the host. Once the game starts, you will be prompted with a choice to either play or sit-out. If you do not choose to play within 10 seconds, you will automatically be sat-out until you click your cards and choose Resume Playing. This is done just in case you ran to the bathroom right before the tournament started.

Once you bust out of the tournament, you will automatically change to an observer, regardless of the maximum observers set by the host at the beginning. As a player, you will always have the seat on the bottom center of the table. When you change to an observer, the players may appear to move as the game always displays seat 5 in the bottom middle when you are an observer.
 
Re-Join an Online Game
If you lose your internet connection or the host has lost it's internet connection, the message appears, "Attempting to Reconnect", and the number of attempts made is displayed at the bottom of the message. Do not exit the game if you can help it, once the internet connection is re-established, the game will automatically reconnect.

If you become completely disconnected from an online game due to a power failure or by exiting the game, you may still re-join it with the methods shown below:
 
Use Last
Click the Use Last button in the Join Online screen and click Join Game.
Type It If you still have the Game URL in the email or instant message type it in or paste it and click Join Game.
